Research Area 

Non- randomised clinical trial on colorectal referral pathways from primary care using a validated “Lower GI e-Referral Protocol” to the secondary care, using the “Site Selection Guidance Booking” of the National Choose and Book programme.

Twenty General Practices and 90 General Practitioners recruited in the study arm. Two primary care trusts and Dorset Cancer Network involved in the study.

• One in eight acute on call duty at “Specialist Registrar Grade”.
• Attending to general surgery, vascular surgery and urology calls.
• Carrying out emergency operating work independently.
• Reporting to consultants, and when required seeking help from them.
• Flexible sigmoidoscopy session in the rectal bleed clinic.

Elective theatre work whenever research permitting.
